No, at this time, all sessions take place in-person at our child-friendly practice in Rondebosch. The hands-on nature of play therapy makes in-person sessions the most effective format.
Each 40-minute session takes place in a calm, creative space where children can explore different play-based tools such as art, sand play, movement, dress-up, and storytelling. Sessions are child-led, allowing them to express themselves at their own pace, while the therapist offers gentle therapeutic support.
You don’t need a referral from a doctor or teacher. Simply fill out the intake form to get started. We’ll begin with a parent consultation to understand your child’s needs and see if play therapy at Anchor & Bloom is the right fit.
Sessions are usually held once a week or once every second week, depending on what works best for your child and family. Progress is reviewed every six sessions with a parent update meeting.
Play therapy works best when children have a private, trusting space to express themselves. While parents don’t attend the sessions, regular check-ins and parent update meetings are built into the process so you stay involved and supported.
Currently, Anchor & Bloom does not offer play therapy for children in foster care or adoptive families. This helps ensure that the therapist is working within the boundaries of their training and scope of practice.
